Regarded as one of India’s finest badminton players, Srikanth continued to make strides in his career. In 2013, he clinched the men’s singles title at the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold event, triumphing over the world number 8 and local favorite, Boonsak Ponsana, in straight sets.
Building on his success, Srikanth secured his first senior national title by defeating reigning champion and Olympian Parupalli Kashyap in the All India Senior National Championship in Delhi. In 2014, he reached the runner-up position at the India Open Grand Prix in Lucknow. Srikanth then showcased his prowess on the international stage at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, where he advanced to the semi-finals of the mixed team events. He garnered immense recognition at the China Open Super Series Premier in November 2014 by defeating the five-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion, Lin Dan, in straight games (21-19, 21-17).
